We had a fun Monday this week. We met some of our new homeschooling friends at the Miller Outdoor Theater downtown for Interactive Theater's production of "The Story of the Lone Star State." They covered 600 years of Texas history in just over 45 minutes! They did a pretty good job of it, too. The four crew members played 40 different roles during that time. Impressive! They were funny and highly entertaining.
Junior and DerekHere are a few things we learned--or were reminded of-- from the play (in no particular order of importance):
Bluebonnet flowers can be blue, purple, or pink, but never yellow.
There might be such thing as a Jackelope (animal).
A few U.S. Presidents are from Texas: Eisenhower, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush (as well as a couple others).
Vaqueros rode Mustang horses and were around LONG before cowboys.
Texas was part of the South, who fought to keep slavery during the Civil War.
